Achievement Preparatory Academy (“Achievement Prep”) is now accepting applications from passionate and talented teachers for the 2013-2014 school year. We are an award winning, high-performing, college-preparatory public charter school located in Southeast Washington, DC. Our mission is to prepare students to excel as high-achieving scholars and leaders in high school, in college and beyond.
Positions:
• Elementary teachers (grades k-3); Special Education; Art; Physical Education
• Middle school teachers: Math, English, Science, History, Spanish, Special Education (4-8)

Our Teachers are Leaders: Teachers at our school also make an impact outside the classroom and have the opportunity to take on school responsibilities including curriculum design, family partnerships, culture building, and school planning.
Our Team Goes Above and Beyond: We believe that more time on task helps our scholars and teachers achieve great results. Our scholars attend school from 7:30am to 4pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and 7:30-1:30pm on Wednesdays. Achievement Prep teachers close the achievement gap from 7am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday.

Qualifications and Characteristics
Above all, we are looking for educators with an unwavering commitment to high academic achievement and character development of all students.
Additionally, all candidates should have:
- Bachelor’s degree (required) and/or Master’s degree (preferred)
- Achievement of NCLB “Highly Qualified” standard
- Prior experience working in urban schools
- Willingness to give and receive feedback to facilitate the growth and achievement of both students and faculty
- Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required
